Erectile Dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction is the inability to obtain and maintain an erection to allow sexual activity with penetration. Erectile dysfunction is not a disease but rather a symptom of another problem.

Erectile dysfunction is common and can occur at any age from teens onwards but is more commonly associated with the ageing population. There are many factors that impact on a man’s ability to obtain and maintain an erection and these include physical (conditions associated with reduced blood flow such as diabetes) and psychological factors (relationship issues, stress at work, financial concerns).

Treatment options offered include medications, intracavernosal injections, external vacuum devices and insertion of penile prosthesis.

At North Eastern Urology, our staff can provide expert advice in all of the above treatments options and our nursing staff can also provide both verbal and practical education.
