Laparascopic techniques (Key hole)
Laparoscopic surgery, also called minimally invasive or keyhole surgery involves procedures performed through small incisions rather than one large incision.
Robotic surgery involves using a robotic system to facilitate laparoscopic surgery by using specialised instrumentation which assists the surgeon in improving surgical precision.
Almost all procedures which are done laparoscopically can also be done robotically. The procedure entails inserting ports through the small incisions. Through these ports a telescope and other instruments are passed to the area requiring surgery.
The main advantage of laparoscopic or robotic surgery is better visualisation, less pain, reduced blood loss and quicker recovery.
Laparoscopic procedures offered at North Eastern Urology include:
- Robotic Radical prostatectomy
- Laparoscopic partial or total nephrectomy
- Laparoscopic pyeloplasty
- Laparoscopic adrenalectomy
- Laparoscopic removal of cysts
At North Eastern Urology, we have surgeons who are able to offer the above procedures.
