Q: Can I drive home following my procedure?

A: No, you must not drive home after any procedure. You would have had an anaesthetic and this may alter your judgement on the road. If you have an accident, your insurance company and the Transport Accident Commission will not cover you.

Q: Do I remain on aspirin or warfarin for my procedure?

A: Every patient is different therefore please call the rooms and speak to the Practice Nurse for further advice.

Q: How long will I be off work for?

A: This will depend on the type of procedure you have and the type of work you do. This will be discussed with you at time of consultation.

Q: My father/mother does not speak English very well. Should I come with him/her?

A: Yes, unfortunately we do not have access to interpreting services. You may wish to arrange your own interpreter or otherwise interpret for your parent. If you use your own interpreting service then this is your cost.

Q: What medications should I stop before my procedure?

A: Except for blood thinning medications you are able to take most medications. Every patient has different needs and therefore discuss this further with your specialist or the Practice Nurse.
